Well, this is all very exciting...

OR IS IT?!?!?!

I suppose I should say a bit about myself, what with this being a blog and indeed a completely new experience for me. So here goes:

I've always been a writer. From the age of 12 I wrote my first story for an English assignment at school, a story based in the Warhammer 40k universe of which I was and to an extent still am a fan. Ever since then I've loved writing, and have had many writing projects in the past. I wrote and finished my first book which clocked in at somewhere between 250-300 pages, and it was based off the anime Hellsing. Now I'm writing my own fantasy story which will be spread across several books (if I ever managed to complete it). Currenlty it sits at just under 180 pages, but I've had block for a long time, and this project least 3 years ago? Relax. Reviews and such won't take quite as long. I also write a lot of poetry, and my absolute dream would be to write for a gaming magazine such as Edge or PC Gamer. I foolishly applied for a position as a staff writer but, as you can imagine, I didn't succeed.

Like the rest of you, I'm sure, I'm also a keen gamer. I've played games since as long as I can remember - admittedly, that's a very short length of time as my memory is appauling - and I've played a great variety of games on a variety of systems. My favourite games include XCOM: Terror from the Deep, Soul Calibur 2, Dungeon Keeper, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, Age of Empires 3 to name but a few. And my all time favourite game? It's a cliché, but it's Final Fantasy VII. I've completed that game LORD knows how many times, and I'll continue to do so until I'm old and grey, and I would argue that the RPG genre is generally my favourite to play.

So why am I here? Simply to combine my passion for writing and gaming. I stumbled upon this site whilst searching, I believe, for reviews of the game VVVVVV - which was done by Jenner David Cauton and can be found here - and couldn't help but notice the "Join Us!" link at the bottom of the front page. I leapt at the opportunity to not only get to work alongside people with similar interests but, naturally, to get my material read and commented on. It seems like a fantastic community to get involved with and I couldn't believe my luck when I was asked to be a contributor. Even now I still feel like I'll wake up disappointed.

Well I'm on the verge of rambling so I think I'll wrap this post up. So yeah, that's a little bit about me and a little bit about why I'm here. Hopefully I won't be a total disappointment and hopefully you'll enjoy my articles. With that said, I should probably get on with it! Thanks for reading.
