For some back story, read my recent blog post.

With that in mind, I'm considering getting both the PC version and 360.
PC
Got my mouse. Plus, it would be seriously nice to have a game with bots on the PC with Call of Duty's shooting mechanics. (Not Unreal Tournament.) Dedicated servers are back in.
360
Friends online, but also the ability to play a local game on the same machine and add in bots. No more 4 man matches in huge maps.

I'm not sure which I'd get. I'm better at shooters on a console, interestingly, so I'd probably go that route. But in getting both you'll be able to experience two different communities of play, so that's a plus.
Read the blog and I tend to agree with your rant. Haven't thought a whole lot about the pros and cons of dedicated vs open servers, so I can't really weigh in at the moment.

Well mostly I'm contemplating because of the cost. The only game I haad a console version of and then a pc version of was GTA San Andreas. But the PC version I ended up getting many years later, and it was much cheaper too.
I also might progress further in one version more thhan the other.
