I just got an email from someone asking us to run their game here at OMGN. Not entirely sure why... I mean, we report on games. That'd be a bit of a conflict of interest, in my opinion. That, and I'm not sure OMGN is qualified to run a game, unless we're paid a lot of money to be able to hire a full staff for it.

Anybody have experience running their own games that want to give us an idea what it's like?

What kind of game would this be?

An MMO. Didn't get a whole lot more detail.

Well I've run my own guild of about 120 people in WOW, that's it really. It ended up being more of a giant friends list and social group to share some laughs than an actual guild, I had virtually no time to host raids, still don't, let alone be in them. But Robert, didn't you do something like that in the past? It was a tick-based war game wasn't it? I forgot the name but I'd think you'd have the most experience out of all of us.

You should try and get more information from this. This could really boost our noteriety, something we could really use at the moments. If this is just a tick-based game, I can't imagine it taking "that" much people to manage it. However if this is something along the lines of WOW, or even lighter 2D sprite based MMOs like Ragnarok or Maple Story (which still catches a lot of players) then we might need help, unless they're offering. As far as conflict of interest, wouldn't that only be the case if we actually review it?

Well, we're in the business of writing about games and covering the industry. I think we need to do that really well first. :)

And yes, I previously ran an old game called Poseidon, as well as an instance of the open source game Solar Empire. I also worked on getting a game called Eclipse Prime out, but it fizzled before I got it launched.

As long as we don't review it or anything like that, it might not be a bad idea. If it's any good, it'll generate traffic.

Did anyone know this is in public forums? I can view this forum while not logged in. Was this posted in the wrong forum by mistake?

Sounds interesting tbh Rob!

Ive got experience being an Administrator and Game Master on multiple GunZ servers. Obviously it is expensive to run, however if someone had a useless PC sitting around, turn it into a server and your flying lol.

I would consider it, if not only for the traffic increase.
