We've always hoped for inter-console communication

Games have bugs. We all know that. It's a fact of life. It's not even restricted to games, either. And it's no small fact that many gamers feel that when it comes to Call of Duty: Black Ops, PlayStation 3 gamers are a bit out of the VIP club compared to Xbox 360 owners.

After numerous complaints from gamers, Treyarch today released patch 1.06 for the PS3, which, it says, should help bridge the gap between the different consoles. However, patch 1.06 introduced a new bug that eagle-eyed players noticed quite quickly.

Alongside the patch, new text found its way on to the description of the multiplayer category "Search and Destroy." Apparently, you aren't allowed to be in an Xbox Live Party Chat while playing. It's quite a strange requirement, considering the fact that the bug has appeared on ... a PlayStation 3. And not limited to one, either. Many gamers are reporting this strange text.

This is the latest event in a long line of issues between PS3 and Xbox 360 owners regarding CoD:Black Ops, and it definitely won't be the last. The pressure games group Gamers' Voice have announced recently that they have written to the Office of Fair Trading in the UK, complaining about the gap between the console versions of CoD:Black Ops.

Treyarch has since released a bug fix which has removed the message, but it was not quick enough to stop the news from spreading across the Internet -- plenty of people have taken pictures and posted them online. Treyarch has proved just how useful copy editors can be for double-checking anything that'll make it's way into the public domain.
