The latest entry to feature a top-down perspective

The next entry in the Burnout series is coming this fall -- only this time, it's slightly different from the Burnout games we're familiar with.

Burnout Crash

EA has announced that this fall, Burnout Crash will be released on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. Crash differs from previous entries by being the first Burnout title to feature a top-down perspective similar to arcade racers from the '80s and the first three Grand Theft Auto titles (GTA, GTA London and GTA 2).

The game will take the crash mode from previous games and infuse a combination of “pinball and music” to give the game a more party-like feel in which different players can compete or play together to create bigger crashes and earn more cash.

Crash will feature Kinect support for the Xbox 360, and both versions will also feature the "autolog" feature first introduced in Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit. This will allow players to compete against one another without needing to be online.

Burnout Crash is being developed by Criterion Games, the same studio behind past Burnout titles and most recently, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit. The game will feature three modes and 18 crash junctions.
